Noah's Ark ...Locust Grove, Georgia

The kids and I headed to Noah's Ark Animal Rehab Center in Locust Grove today for a Mystery field trip/ Mini vacation. I have read wonderful reviews about it and have wanted to go for some time.

I have to say we had a great time and it was so worth the ticket price...FREE!!!! That's right it is FREEEEEE!!!!

The kids and I arrived around 10:30. We signed in and saw some pretty cool snakes in the lobby. After that, we ran to see the BISON, DEER, EMU, and BIRDS as they are all available to see before the center opens. We then had time to grab our picnic, eat lunch, and visit the restroom before they opened the gates at 12 noon. The center's hours are 12-3.

Once in the gate we saw an Ostrich, Zebra, Parrots, Wolves, Lion, Tiger, Bears, Primates, Leopards, Lamas, Deer, and Peacocks. Sometimes the animals were a little hard to see, but most of them were within sight distance. The lamas, and the deer were wandering free which was really neat. The kids have never been that close to animals like that before. The kids loved reading all the information about each animal. It was very much like going to the zoo.

We had one small hangup which was a huge rain shower. It was funny because the Lamas took off running and we decided to follow them. The lamas and the Greeneteam were all hiding under the tree together. Oh how I would have loved to have a picture of that!! :)

Along the way we met Ms. Agnes an 80 year old lady whose daughter owns the center. She was travelling around in a golf cart visiting everyone with her collie dog Savannah. The kids loved both Ms. Agnes and her dog. She let us know about the Alligator bridge and the tortoise's.

Once we recouped from the rain shower we headed to see the Alligators. We only saw one while we were standing on the bridge but it was pretty cool to see him come up out of the water. It was also kind of fun to wonder how many more were hiding under us. We then headed to see the tortoise's.

All in all it was a fun place and for FREE, well it was fabulous. They do ACCEPT and NEED donations which of course we made while we were there. I would highly reccomend this as a family friendly destination. It does get hot from 12-3 so just come prepared. Sunscreen, bug spray, sun hats, water bottles, and well even an UMBRELLA..:)

If you head that direction let me know what you think. The Greeneteam gives it 2 thumbs up!!
