Pulling into the Horse and Rescue Ranch today Carson said "My dream is about to come true". He has been wanting to go to see horses for close to a year now. He absolutely loves them. I planned a trip for our HS group to attend. We were able to donate $150 to the cause by setting it up as a field trip. I think all of the kids had a great time. We toured the farm, visited their small petting area with pigs, chicks, sheep and baby horses, learned about grooming a horse and then got turns sitting on and leading the horses. Such a fun time!!
We were also excited to learn about the opportunities to help the horses and animals. We will be attending a Volunteer Orientation in the next month and then plan to volunteer as a family a time or two a month. Even Jack who is not my outdoor nature boy said at the end "mom I think this would be a great place to come work". I love that the team had a great time today. I love it more that they have hearts for the animals and want to spend their time volunteering. I can't wait to go back.
I LOVE IT!!! The barn is my place of solace, the place that always makes me feel better, I am sooo glad you guys had a great time and will become "barn people" too. The rescue needs lots of friends, I know the Greene Team will make wonderful contributions and the kids learn so much!
ReplyDeletesounds like it was a great success. I think it so great that ya'll will be able to volunteer there, they will always remember the rewarding experience :)
ReplyDeleteExciting!! Guess he can mark that off the 2010 list of goals!

I knew we would but was happy that even my non-animal loving Jack came around.:) A successful day 4-sure!! Dee I think once we RIDE the horse it will be a check for 2010. Tiffany.. great place to volunteer. Worth the drive.
