My sister and her husband introduced this to us in January and we just love it. It is a $10 card game that is so much fun. I love it because whether you are 6 and just learning to spell or 86 you can play the game. Not just play but possibly even win. I cannot tell you how many times my 6 year old has beaten me. Even better than that... I have actually beaten my husband. :) Makes me sooo happy!!
As a home school mom I love it because the kids not only get their spelling from it but their math practice as well. I make them try to spell all the words themselves before helping. Then once they have gone out they have to add up all of their own points. Voila.. Spelling and Math practice in a single game.
I also love it because the kids learn soooo many new words. Because they are playing with adults they will learn words and meanings that they would not normally at their age pick up. I was playing with Maddie my 6 year old this spring and she said " I think I have the word EERIE..sure enough she had it in her hand.. She had remembered it from her Uncle Ben who used it in January. Gotta love that!!
I know you can order this online. I found it at a craft store in their game section!! What is your familys favorite game???
Any game that I can beat my husband in is my favorite! Now if I could only find one! I like Quiddler ;o)
ReplyDeleteI have played Quiddler once with my girls at my best friend's house. Our current favorite is Imaginiff. Everyone's name is written on the board along with enough others to make 8. Questions are asked with the name of one player inserted. For example: "Imagine if Renee was something to sit on. Would she be a 1.rocking chair 2.throne 3.electric chair 4.park bench 5.bar stool 6.toilet" Everyone picks the card with their answer and the most popular answer wins. Those players move ahead. It is a great game for all ages and definitely keeps us laughing!
ReplyDeleteImaginiff sounds fun.. I will have to look for it. Anything that gets us laughing is a great thing. Thanks so much for posting. :)
